Public initiative

Tigers are in serious danger. We, the citizens of Russia, demand that the Government of the Russian Federation take urgent measures to protect the Amur tiger and restore its habitat. Across the Russian Far East, forests continue to be destroyed, the tiger’s prey base is shrinking, and conflicts with people are increasing. Following the African swine fever outbreak, wild boar populations in some studied areas declined by 90–95%, while the number of conflicts in one studied tiger population increased more than elevenfold. On the need to protect Russia’s tigers and restore their habitat

Scientists have documented emaciated tigers and an increase in attacks on domestic animals.

At the same time, the tiger itself is increasingly being portrayed as the cause of the crisis. Specialists have publicly reported information pressure surrounding the species, while representatives of hunting interests are raising the issue of population control and the effective legalization of tiger killing. Scientific evidence points to the actual drivers of the crisis: habitat destruction, a severe decline in natural prey, and growing human pressure. Tigers must not be killed for the consequences of the destruction of the habitat they depend on. The state must protect key tiger habitats, restore the prey base, restrict economic activity in critical areas, and establish a unified federal system for preventing human–tiger conflicts.

We call on everyone to spread information about this public initiative and join the effort to protect the Amur tiger in Russia: https://pavel-pashkov.com/initiatives/en/tigers

The Amur tiger is one of the rarest large predators on Earth. Further destruction of its habitat and attempts to resolve the crisis at the expense of the tiger itself are unacceptable.
