Scientific Research: How the LIVING MATTER of the Planet Regulates the Climate

New scientific data has emerged that we can use to protect wildlife. Interestingly, the media is now widely reporting that "scientists have discovered an unexpected cause of natural disasters"...

...and I immediately want to put the word "unexpected" in quotes – it's not such an "unexpected" cause as the press claims!

The study itself shows that organic matter like pollen or bacteria causes heavy precipitation. In other words, it directly influences the climate.

The scientific work was published on May 5, 2025, and is titled "On the Causes of the Diurnal Variability of Ice Nucleating Particles in Clouds Over the Eastern Mediterranean."

The authors write the following:

“Considering the ability of bioaerosols to effectively form ice crystal nuclei and the subsequent effects of ice multiplication at high temperatures, the absence of such cycles in models points to important and overlooked factors affecting cloud formation and precipitation in mountainous regions."

"Ice formation in the atmosphere plays a vital role in shaping clouds and their microphysical properties, which significantly impact regional and global precipitation, the hydrological cycle, atmospheric radiation forcing, and Earth's energy balance.”

I will try to put aside the "scientific jargon" with its many unfamiliar terms and explain things simply, in common, accessible language. At the same time, I’ll structure the findings.

FIRST.

A scientific study was conducted on the Greek islands in the Mediterranean Sea. The findings surprised even the authors. They seemed unexpected to them. "Oh, how can that be?!" the researchers exclaimed, "It turns out that living matter directly regulates the climate! How is that even possible?!"

Scientists were surprised to find that biological particles in the air — such as pollen, bacteria, plant debris in microscopic form, or essential oils evaporated by trees — play a key role in ice formation in clouds. All these organic nano-particles act as ice nucleation centers, serving as catalysts — the “seeds” of ice crystals. It turns out that Greece’s mountain forests, as a result, directly regulate precipitation!

“Ice formation in clouds leads to most of the planet’s precipitation. Ice falls faster than water droplets, and its intensive formation is linked to downpours and blizzards,” explained Professor Athanasios Nenes, who led the study.

Scientists collected air samples from the atmosphere at various altitudes. They discovered that with the sunrise, pollen, fungal spores, bacteria, and plant dust rise from the forests. By noon, their concentration peaks — and at that very time, ice formation in the clouds is observed. And voilà, natural "climate-regulating technologies" work flawlessly: by evening, a much-needed rain gently falls over the forests.

“We see a clear correlation between biological particles and their ability to induce freezing in clouds. This means they directly influence precipitation,” states another co-author of the study, Kunfeng Gao. The forest regulates the climate!

Using radars, drones, balloons, and many other complex scientific instruments, the researchers discovered that bio-particles are the most effective at triggering ice formation in clouds. Which means: in precipitation too. The forest regulates the climate – it's that simple!

SECOND.

Note another crucial point: it was MOUNTAIN forests that were the subject of the study.

These are EXACTLY THE SAME FORESTS that our “economic animals” from government and business are currently trying to convert into tourist resorts and ski facilities! Alas, if we limit our understanding of the world around us to economics alone, we become blind. Again and again, we destroy the very thing that creates our economy — the real living world beyond monetary transactions.

THIRD.

The results of the study are “unexpected” only to those who are unfamiliar with the theory of the biotic pump developed by Russian scientists and known since the late 20th century.

For those who are familiar with the biotic pump theory, these results are simply further confirmation. Just a more detailed look into the mechanisms underlying climate regulation by ancient forests.

We have been talking about this for a very long time, urging the government to stop the mindless destruction of the remaining fragments of ancient forests and to place them under full protection as a matter of urgency! But to this day, it is ignored by all, and, naturally, even scientific works (including those by our Russian researchers) are unlikely to be read by decision-makers in key ministries.

All because the only interest is short-term gain.

In short, the research is open and available to all. The theory of the biotic pump of atmospheric moisture is confirmed year after year by numerous studies. The conclusions are clear: destroy forests — and you destroy the climate. Even more so if you destroy mountain ecosystems!

But how do we convey this to the decision-makers in power and business? That is the question! These complex interconnections in the Biosphere are SYSTEMIC interconnections of the highest level. They are self-regulation mechanisms of planet Earth itself, formed over millions of years. It is foolish to break a system we do not understand!
