Ancient forests will be cut down and buried in the ground to “save the planet”

Imagine that, right now, authorities together with transnational corporations begin calling for ancient forests to be cut down and buried in the ground in order to restrain the release of carbon into the atmosphere. They begin paying ordinary citizens, contractors, and various small intermediaries — anyone willing to take part in it. And when asked, “How can this be?” they answer that old trees, when they fall to the ground, begin releasing catastrophic amounts of carbon, which accelerates climate change. Therefore, they say, we must “get ahead” of these changes by destroying ancient forests.

What would you say to that? Of course, you would say that this is complete nonsense and that nothing like this could ever happen in our modern civilized society. We are supposedly intelligent people, and since school we have been taught that forests are vital for the existence of all Life on Earth.

I have nothing cheerful to tell you. Ancient forests really will be cut down and buried in the ground. Be sure to read this material to the end: I understand that it is long, but it is important not only to learn about what is coming ourselves, but also to pass it on.

I will begin by quoting the major publication Forbes, which in 2023 published an article titled “Cut Down Forests to Save the Planet? Maybe It’s Not as Crazy as It Sounds.”

Below I will provide excerpts from the article so that I am not making unfounded claims. Everything comes from a respected international publication:

“Bill Gates and other investors are betting that Kodama Systems can reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere by cutting down trees and burying them. Now all that remains is for Uncle Sam to support the idea with tax credits as well.

A year ago, Merritt Jenkins moved from Boston to Twain Harte, California — a town of 2,500 people in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. On his way to work, he stops at Alicia’s Sugar Shack to eat a breakfast sandwich — scrambled eggs on rye bread with avocado — and then heads to a 4-hectare forest plot in the Stanislaus National Forest. There, his startup Kodama Systems is testing and refining its 25-foot, 17-ton semi-autonomous logging machine.

Loggers use machines like these, called skidders, to grab tons of felled trees and branches and haul them out of the forest. Kodama’s version is designed to work even at night, with fewer workers, using satellite communications and advanced lidar cameras — like those used in self-driving cars — to remotely monitor the work. It is not easy. “Trees have a complex texture. Every meter of a ski trail is slightly different from the previous one,” says Jenkins, 35.

But cutting trees in the dark is not the most intriguing part of Kodama’s plans, which have attracted $6.6 million in seed funding from Bill Gates’s Breakthrough Energy and other investors. After cutting down the trees, Jenkins plans to bury them in order to slow climate change and gain the ability to sell carbon credits — and perhaps one day tax credits as well.”

“The U.S. Forest Service plans over the next decade to thin 70 million acres of forests in the West, primarily in California, extracting more than 1 billion bone-dry tons of biomass. Normally, after such forest thinning, merchantable logs are sent to sawmills, while most of the rest is piled up and later burned under controlled conditions. Kodama, however, wants instead to bury the leftovers — in earthen vaults designed to maintain dry and anoxic, oxygen-free, conditions and protect the wood from rotting or burning.”

“In Texas, attorney Chris Knop, 43, has already buried more than 4,000 tons of biomass on 45 acres of land owned by his company Carbon Sequestration, near the Louisiana border. According to him, this land is ideal for the anoxic burial needed to prevent biomass decomposition because of its thick layer of clay. He recently acquired 15,000 tons of waste from landowners north of Beaumont who are clearing a pine forest for real estate development and would otherwise have burned the residues, allowing him to sell carbon credits at $145 per ton on Puro.

Knop also has a rather radical vision of turning American forest lands into carbon sponges: cut down pines, bury them, and then plant the areas with more “carbon-hungry” species such as bamboo, kenaf, or poplar.”

Immediately note the following for yourself:

  • Bill Gates and other investors plan to cut down trees and bury them in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere.

  • They are already testing semi-autonomous machines, enormous mechanical monsters that will be able to cut down and haul trees out of forests around the clock.

  • It is immediately clarified that the “intriguing part of the plans” is cutting down trees in the dark, using an autonomous machine connected to an artificial intelligence system, and then burying the trees in the ground in order to supposedly “slow down” climate change — and the POSSIBILITY OF SELLING CARBON CREDITS.

Now let us examine what is happening.

I carefully studied all the sources, materials, and documents.

Here is the matter.

Several years ago, the world rushed to find a way to make money: some kind of market had to be created, monopolized, and then used to generate profit. People used to laugh: “They will sell us air.” Well, that is exactly the idea that came to states and transnational corporations — they decided to create a carbon credit market and force everyone to pay taxes for carbon emissions.

The idea is built around the notion that everyone must become “carbon neutral,” because the release of carbon into the atmosphere changes the climate and strikes a blow against the Earth’s Biosphere. According to this logic, large enterprises and businesses must begin compensating for carbon emissions by purchasing those very “carbon credits.” And end consumers — you and I — at the early stage will pay inflated prices for products, compensating businesses for their losses from trying to be “carbon neutral.”

I am trying to simplify this so that all our comrades can understand what is being discussed.

All have already joined this international program. Our country, Russia, is also now creating a platform for trading “carbon credits” and is already partially testing the approach in the regions. Do not look at the “conflicts of big politics”; better assess how precisely and in unison states are pushing through the same thing.

In 2021, Russia adopted Federal Law No. 296-FZ “On Limiting Greenhouse Gas Emissions.” Do not be misled by the name: the law introduced the concept of a carbon unit — a verified result of a climate project equal to 1 ton of CO₂ equivalent.

Then, in 2022, the Government adopted Decree No. 790, which established the rules for maintaining the carbon unit registry. This registry registers climate projects and keeps records of carbon units, quota fulfillment units, and operations involving them.

Then, already in 2023, Law No. 539-FZ created more favorable conditions for the market of carbon “credits.” All operations with carbon units and quota fulfillment units effectively received tax incentives through exemption from VAT.

So, as you can see, despite all global conflicts, they are doing exactly the same thing. And in our country as well, there is a full-scale integration of the “carbon credit” market, copied from other countries.

Now let us return to the United States, where Bill Gates personally and “other investors” are actively implementing in practice the cutting down of ancient forests followed by burying them in the ground.

I want to begin with the background, literally over a span of five years. As you have already noticed, the first law in Russia was adopted in 2021. The situation in other countries is the same — the course has already been set: the whole world will create “taxation of air.” The sphere of enrichment has already been thought through. Next, scientific studies are needed to support this “urgent necessity” with at least some minimal conclusions. Therefore, in 2022, a scientific paper appeared in an international peer-reviewed journal under the title:

“Wood Vault: Removing Atmospheric CO₂ with Trees, Storing Wood for Carbon Sequestration Now, and as Biomass, Bioenergy and Carbon Reserve for the Future.”

In this paper, the scientific and technical idea of a “wood vault” appeared. The authors describe in detail how woody residues, thinning wood, and so on should be removed by burying them in the ground while restricting access to air and water. In other words, biomass is to be buried in order to prevent its decomposition.

It is precisely this study that is cited by those who justify the need to remove ancient forests in order to “save the planet” from carbon. I carefully studied the scientific paper and its beneficiaries — it received direct support from U.S. government structures, namely NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and NIST, the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

That is, this study is a genuine government commission from the U.S. Government. The authors of the study received government grants and, in fact, work within a university environment integrated into the U.S. climate program. I will also note that in the author’s own description of the work, I found that they are in the process of creating a Public Benefit Corporation to implement technologies for burying wood in the ground. This means that even the authors confirm the main purpose of the study: the commercialization of the idea of burying wood.

Later, direct links appeared with the U.S. Department of Energy; they began receiving millions of dollars in funding and the project was included in the carbon credit market.

I have deliberately described this process in detail because today, as you know, it is very difficult to remain independent from government and business. Science mostly works in the interests of those who are ready to pay for it — and not every study can be trusted.

I will give a couple of calculations from this study.

One prototype of such a “wood vault” on an area of 1 hectare can store up to 100,000 m³ of wood and about 0.1 million tons of CO₂. For a rate of 1 million tons of CO₂ per year, the authors discuss collecting wood residues over an area of about 25,000 km², and for 1 gigaton of CO₂ per year — already millions of square kilometers of forest territories or a significant increase in global timber harvesting.

Everything is simple: at the very least, they are planning an INCREASE in large-scale forest logging around the world. They plan to launch a real “carbon rush,” where the rule will literally be: the more wood you bury in the ground, the more money you receive.

And already in January 2022, in parallel with the adoption of similar laws in Russia, the U.S. Forest Service officially launched a 10-year strategy for mass treatment of forests. Authorities want to “treat” up to 20 million acres of national forests in the Western United States and up to 30 million acres of other federal, state, tribal, and private lands over ten years.

I also obtained their documents and studied them carefully. They say that they will supposedly “thin” forests in order to extract as much wood from them as possible. This is justified by the claim that thinning will help reduce the scale of wildfires in the future, and all the wood removed can be buried for the sale of “carbon credits.”

And then, in December 2022, that very company Kodama Systems received its first $6.6 million from climate investors. That is, Bill Gates himself and “other investors” begin pouring huge amounts of money into the creation of semi-autonomous machines capable of working around the clock, extracting trees from wild nature. Moreover, they want to cut down precisely old trees, which, in their opinion, may soon die and will “lie on the ground, releasing carbon.” Therefore, apparently, they must be cut down and buried in the ground as quickly as possible.

Now they are not only creating such “mechanical monsters,” but are also successfully testing them in field conditions. In effect, the destruction of ancient forests is already underway.

People are asked not to worry. They are told that only those trees that would die soon anyway will be cut down. The justifications are exactly the same as with trophy hunting: “We kill the old and unnecessary ones.” But business is business. Payment is made for the heaviest trees, the enormous giants, and the main task here is precisely to bury as many trees in the ground as possible: the more they bury, the higher the profit.

This is not care for nature. This is capitalism.

Now imagine what we are talking about:

  1. Enormous AI-controlled mechanical monsters will cut down ancient trees around the clock in order to bury them in the ground afterward and sell “carbon credits” to major companies.

  2. Forests will lose their genetic and physiological heritage; it is known that old trees preserve accumulated experience and pass it on to young trees.

  3. “Thinning” forests will disrupt their necessary complexity; afterward, forests will begin to dry out, fall ill, and enter inevitable horrifying degradation that no one will be able to stop. But this will allow even more trees to be obtained “for removal.”

  4. It is ancient forests that ensure the functioning of biotic climate regulation, shape climate, and draw moisture deep into continents. The catastrophe will inevitably affect everyone.

  5. And of course, imagine a forest through which mechanical monsters drive around the clock, tearing up the soil, felling trees, and destroying thousand-year-old biocenoses. This is a true hell for wild nature that is already tormented enough.

The machines now being created will be 7.6 meters long and weigh more than 17 tons. They will use self-driving vehicle technologies and satellite sensing, requiring only an operator for remote control.

But why are they doing this?

It is very simple: how else can the necessity of paying taxes for carbon emissions be justified to businesses and people? People pay and ask: “What are we paying for?” Accordingly, the authorities show them: look, we are cutting down ancient forests, burying them, and thereby saving the planet. Your taxes are going toward this hard work of saving the world.

Large orders are already coming in for the purchase of “carbon credits” from the first tons of trees buried alive. On the open market, such “credits” can be purchased for about $200 per ton.

The state, in turn, is working on the idea of granting all such projects tax credits of 30% and even more of invested capital, encouraging the creation of a business based on destroying forests. And it is already giving generous benefits to those who want to cut down forests and process them into pellets to be burned instead of coal.

Private individuals have also rushed to destroy forests; now this is permitted by law. Many people have begun leasing plots of land, cutting down forests, and burying the wood! From the state, they receive benefits and “green credits” for every ton of felled forest. By the way, for understanding: a ton of forest is almost nothing, because trees in their raw state weigh catastrophically much. Suppose a cubic meter of pine at 88% moisture content weighs about 800 kg. One can receive approximately $150, up to 15,000 rubles, by selling “green credits.”

This is profitable for everyone: the state, business, and private individuals. An enormous sphere of monopolization through the destruction of ancient forests.

And I repeat that in our country it is all the same: in 2023, a new climate doctrine through 2060 was signed. The key goal of the document is achieving carbon neutrality. At the center of this doctrine is the creation of digital platforms for trading “carbon units” to reduce the carbon footprint from the activities of a person, an organization, an event, or even a final product.

Here the main theses can be immediately identified:

  • A digital trading platform.
  • From the activity of a PERSON, organizations, and so on.

In other words, this is precisely about the gradual introduction of taxation that will be imposed on both companies and citizens.

The idea was immediately supported by major TNCs, transnational corporations. In Russia, for example, this includes businesses in the oil and gas sector. The point is the possibility of increasing profits!

I will quote the National Association of Oil and Gas Service:

“It is expected that as the number of applications for carbon credits increases, their price will rise. Shell’s budgets, for example, are based on a carbon price of $85, or about 70 euros, per ton by 2050, which is more than twice the current price in the EU — just under 30 euros.”

“European oil companies say that investing in projects aimed at increasing the volume of carbon credits is simply good business, offering new sources of revenue at a time when oil prices have collapsed and enthusiasm for discoveries is fading.”

Once again, the fact is indicated that carbon credits are a new sphere of monopolization and profit extraction.

“Thus, the best way to combat global warming is to cut down forests. According to one hypothesis, glaciations on Earth were linked precisely to the reduction of forests, which led to a decrease in the release into the atmosphere of the main greenhouse gas — water vapor.”

So, as you can see, the idea that forests must be consciously destroyed is already being voiced directly. Living, real forests — ancient ecosystems — are wanted, and are already beginning, to be literally buried in the Earth. And ordinary people will pay for this out of their taxes, while it will also allow product prices around the world to be briefly “jacked up.” After all, it is “so difficult” for business to pay for carbon neutrality.

Remember the most important thing: this is about a new sphere of monopolization designed to extract colossal profits, and everything will be built around expanding the scale of logging. Moreover, the heavier and larger the trees are, the more aggressively they will be targeted for destruction — to be buried underground and used to generate high mass indicators. Mass equals profit. And these are precisely ancient, thousand-year-old biogeocenoses.

This system will give rise to extreme corruption. Officials will hand over for logging everything they can possibly reach. They will justify it with anything: forest thinning, sanitary logging, wildfire prevention, and whatever else they can come up with.

This madness will create a race for profit in which no one will be able to stop — until the remaining living ecosystems of the Earth are finally destroyed.

Let us sum up.

Comrades! You and I have been fighting for nature for many years, but now we are literally being forced to stay silent and forbidden to speak the truth. We are under tremendous pressure.

But is all that we are now seeing not madness? We must continue the struggle for Life; there is no one else. Moreover, you and I are now the only ones offering a systemic plan to resolve the planetary crisis — the creation of Territories of Complete Ecological Peace, TCEP. While they try to sell us the need to launch “mechanical monsters” to destroy old-growth forests, then bury the wood in the ground and collect taxes from citizens for it, we speak about the need to create REFUGES FOR WILDLIFE FROM HUMANITY.

Support our work! Stand beside us and give us the chance to withstand the pressure being applied, become stronger, and be able to change the world.

Before these dangerous groups finally destroy the Earth.

Global Mission

The destruction of nature has become planetary in scale: over the past 50 years, wildlife populations have declined by 73%, forests are being cut down, rivers are polluted, and ecosystems are degrading. The last remaining nature reserves are isolated and increasingly under pressure from states and corporations. To stop this crisis, the global protected-area system must be urgently changed. We propose a concrete plan — the Territories of Full Ecological Tranquility (TFET) — and are setting out on expeditions to develop their future boundaries.
