Botswana to Cull 20,000 Elephants Following Namibia and Zimbabwe

The situation with the mass slaughter of wild animals in Africa has not changed! This dangerous precedent is gaining momentum: following Namibia and Zimbabwe, who previously announced the start of killing wild animals in reserves, Botswana is now planning to undertake the same actions.

Recall that under the guise of humanitarian necessity and anomalous disasters (heat, drought), the governments of African countries are killing animals right in reserves. They are butchered for meat to supply the population with food.

We have sent mass requests to the UN asking them to pay attention to the problem. After our appeals, the presidents of African countries arrived in New York for the UN Future Summit. Including Botswana's President Mokgweetsi Masisi, who announced plans to kill 20,000 elephants in the country.

Botswana is the very country that threatened to send 20,000 elephants to Germany after the German government planned to impose restrictions on the import of hunting trophies. Botswana earns revenue from the industry of paid kills, organizing mass 'trophy' hunts on wild animals! Trophy hunters from all over the world come there.

And now the President of Botswana at the UN Summit in New York stated that since Germany does not want to accept the elephants, the state intends to slaughter them for meat due to a humanitarian crisis.

This is a clear manipulation and an attempt to maintain multi-million dollar (in dollars) profits from sports hunting.

As I said earlier, the precedent set by Namibia, which was the first to decide to slaughter thousands of animals in reserves, is spreading like a chain reaction to all poor countries around the world. It was publicly demonstrated the right of states to cynically kill wild animals in reserves!

We are now witnessing the collapse of the reserve system that no longer WORKS! Animals in protected areas are now essentially just a reserve, a strategic stock for humans. They are kept not for protection but as a reserve meat supply in case of humanitarian problems.

Botswana openly manipulates this to put pressure on European countries and maintain the flow of 'trophy-tourists' who come to the country to kill wild animals.

In Botswana, there are 130,000 elephants — this is a third of the entire world population! The authorities say this is too many, that elephants drink all the water, and they must be killed.

There are about 400,000 elephants across the African continent. This is only 2% of the population that existed before Europe colonized Africa: back then, there were over 20 million elephants. Now, over the last 150 years, only 2% of individuals remain.

Of course, elephants need a habitat, but it is people who have destroyed their ecosystems! Logging does not stop even now, leading to desertification and droughts as forests can no longer draw moisture into the continent, not replenishing rivers, leading to soil drying and the death of nature.

As far as I know, the UN received our many requests about the need to control the situation and influence it! We have been heard, I assure you. But no real actions followed: we see a complete indifference of the world community to the ongoing ecocide. The slaughter of wild animals happens right in reserves, and nobody cares.

I'm afraid we won't be able to help with this. We've taken every possible step, but they turned out futile. International organizations and states can't care less about 'some animals,' and society worldwide is immersed in political strife and social conflicts.

Precedents of killing tens of thousands of animals in African reserves will soon become familiar to everyone. This will lead to a 'familiarization' of the world community, where in a year or two, countries will again announce the culling of animals, and it won't surprise anyone. We will simply hear: "It's always been like this."

Reserves are turning into a slaughterhouse! A real massacre is happening: wild animals are being killed by people, justifying it by 'humanitarian necessity.' And everything will only get worse. This will not stop!
