Against yet another attempt to destroy Russia’s mountain forests

I oppose Draft Law No. 155253, which, under the guise of "tourism development," allows clear-cutting of Russia's mountain protective forests. The draft was duplicated after its authors failed to pass the earlier proposal No. 145734. Moreover, on the last day of public voting on the official government initiative website, votes suddenly began to appear in favor of the law within just a few hours — I believe this is a deliberate manipulation of the digital platform by the law’s proponents. 

This law allows the destruction of unique ecosystems that preserve water, regulate climate, and shelter rare species. It legalizes the commercial exploitation of nature, opening the way for ski resort construction even in protected areas. In addition, it legitimizes the sale of timber harvested from our ancient forests.

These forests cannot be restored. They regulate the water cycle, protect against landslides, and serve as points of natural biological regeneration. By destroying them, we threaten the future of our children, allowing powerful lobbyists to privatize the natural heritage of our homeland!

I demand:

— the immediate rejection of Draft Law No. 155253,

— the official closure of the previous Draft Law No. 145734,

— a legal ban on clear-cutting in mountain forests,

— development of only environmentally sound and scientifically supported tourism.
