We need your help: we are submitting a claim against the destruction of the Lagonaki Plateau.

Comrades! The fierce struggle for the protected heritage of humanity — the Lagonaki Plateau in the Western Caucasus — continues. In an earlier post, I wrote that on May 11, 2025, Glavgosexpertiza issued a POSITIVE conclusion approving the destruction of the plateau. They ignored countless facts, including the importance of this area as a refuge for wildlife — places like this are almost gone from our planet.

Moreover, the expert review failed to mention the critical radiation background on the plateau, which poses a serious threat to people! All other crucial facts were also simply omitted, as if they didn’t exist. Thus, the “experts” have signed a death sentence for the Lagonaki refuge.

Our people are fighting with all their strength for this amazing land right now. Even UNESCO experts have taken our side. The fight has been going on for years, but the destruction of the Lagonaki Plateau is now just a breath away.

We received photographs of the official document with Glavgosexpertiza’s conclusion. It took a lot of time to carefully study everything. Unfortunately, the documents were provided as images, and the heavy technical content had to be extracted and reconstructed piece by piece. After this, we compared Glavgosexpertiza’s conclusions with real, objective data and identified possible violations.

We have prepared a large, detailed claim document demanding the annulment of the expert conclusion. In the claim, we have carefully, scientifically, and strictly within the framework of the law outlined all the problems and shortcomings we have identified.

Let’s try to extend the life of protected Lagonaki. We are now submitting our claim to Glavgosexpertiza, and at the same time sending the document to the Investigative Committee of Russia and the General Prosecutor's Office for review.
